Intelligentsia has developed and produced a low cost automatic water sampler that includes electronic, hydraulic and mechanical components.

This progrem involves designing, assembling and testing a composite water sampler, using off-the-shelf components (relays, pumps, solenoid valves, etc.), offering an excellent opportunity for practical application of engineering skills and ideas.

We are therefore seeking students and recent graduates prepared for taking on the challenge of developing creative solutions to improve current automatic water sampler model.

The resulting next generation sampler will be very helpful in addressing needs of hydrologists and other scientists as well as local community.

List of main tasks:

• Study currently used water sampler;
• Document all weaknesses of current design;
• Suggest design improvements;
• Test functionality of newly developed improvements;
• Perform performance measurements;
• Fabricate components of the actual machine;
• Analyze collected data;
• Document all activities in field logs and SOPs;
• Identify and document potential quality control problems and develop new procedures for reducing them.
